Philly Set Go 2020 Primary Endorsements
In this time of unprecedented public health challenges and economic uncertainty, the need for ethical, transparent and effective local and state government is critical. People’s lives and livelihoods depend on the response of our public officials in this time of crisis. To that end, Philly Set Go believes political engagement—with social distancing—is more important now than ever before. As citizens, we have a unique responsibility to support and guide the decision-making of our elected officials and hold them accountable when necessary.
The upcoming June 2, 2020 primary is an important opportunity for us to discharge that civic responsibility. As a City, we are fortunate to have multiple contested races, including state house and state senate races, featuring many exceptional and qualified candidates. Whether by mail-in-ballot (we strongly encourage this) or by voting at the polls on Election Day, it is imperative that you vote. Philadelphia needs your voice.
In advance of the June primary, Philly Set Go is proud to endorse Rick Krajewski for the 188th Legislative District. Rick is a proven community leader who has demonstrated he can get things done and deliver results for neighbors in West and Southwest Philadelphia. Rick’s emphasis on achieving social justice through improved public education for all Philadelphians, regardless of zip code, is important for a city with deep education inequity. Electing Rick will put an education leader in Harrisburg, and Philly Set Go believes our Commonwealth needs such a leader.
Philly Set Go is also proud to re-endorse the following candidates: Elizabeth Fiedler (184th Legislative District), Jared Solomon (202nd Legislative District), Malcolm Kenyatta (181st Legislative District) and Morgan Cephas (192nd Legislative District). Each of these Representatives is a leader in championing socially conscious and effective governance and, in response to the Covid-19 crisis, has led relief legislation to support our communities. Representatives Fiedler and Cephas are members of the powerful house appropriations committee and are working tireless to shape the budget to prioritize the needs of Philadelphians and Pennsylvanians. Representative Solomon has become a leader on election reform, working to make our elections more inclusive and transparent. Representative Kenyatta has prioritized legislation combating discrimination and social injustice. Philly Set Go is proud to stand in support of these candidates.
